Last night on our way home we passed a man trying frantically to douse flames on the side of the road.

Usually, this would be a cause for concern and usually we would stop to help. Only this is a scene that has become ordinary over the past few days.

Florida is on fire. We've been extremely lucky-- although near 200 houses have burned, despite the fact that the original fire was set on our street, and that we were surrounded by three massive fires, we haven't had any damage, other than smoke stains. But keep everyone in your thoughts. A lot of people are hurting right now, not just here, but all around the world.

In happier news, I leave for Hawaii tomorrow. I'm hoping that when the smoke cloud clears, so will my head.

167 Pages and three weeks of no sleep, I have turned in my thesis. It was in arial narrow, so... I basically wrote a book.

Insert sigh of relief.

I should be returning to normal, soon.

Gave 50+ children shoes on their feet through TOMS Shoes and raised over $1,000 to build a well in Malawi.



I have to pull an all nighter again, but I'd say that it's worth it.

I'm painting a pair of Toms shoes tonight, and I would like to put magnolias on them. One on each.

Does anyone have art skills who wouldn't mind sketching something traceable out for me so I could?

1. Unless we have silver hair or are a poet laureate, don't ever call us ma'am. Try girl. Justin Timberlake has made a career out of its generous use.

2. I look like a fool in a dress if you're in a T-shirt and jeans, but we look like a stylish couple if you add a blazer. Unrequired fanciness is the cutest thing ever.

3. Instead of calling your ex a bitch, say: "[Name] is being difficult and could act more reasonable." Then vent by flattening some boxes for recycling. This shows restraint and a love for the environment.

8. If you defend a girl as "really smart when you get to know her," she is dumb. What you mean is, she's "really smart for a smokin'-hot girl who is stupid."

9. Your buddy doesn't mind receiving his new book in the Borders bag. We do. Wrap everything. Except engagement rings.
